Surprising people with the moments in photos I take makes my heart sing. I love weddings—the emotions, the anticipation, the celebration, the open hearts, and the true emotions, shared. It is a moving sight to see, and I feel privileged to be let in to witness this wonderful energy. I truly enjoy meeting wonderful brides and grooms, excited about their big day

In addition to weddings and portraits, I do commercial and editorial photography for clients that have included, among others, Teach for America, World Peace Foundation (Tufts University), Beacon Press, Keys School, Foreign Landscapes Productions, Foley Hoag LLC, and YES! Magazine.

I am honored to shoot for YES! Magazine. In their words, YES! Magazine “reframes the biggest problems of our time in terms of their solutions. Online and in print, [they] outline a path forward with in-depth analysis, tools for citizen engagement, and stories about real people working for a better world.” I have had the privilege of meeting and photographing some amazing people doing really meaningful work.

I also teach photography classes through the Palo Alto Art Center and privately. One of my courses is called PhotoJournaling and it combines images and journaling. We do some fun and thought-provoking exercises while learning some of the basics of photography.

Giving back is an important aspect of what I do. For many years, I worked in international development, striving to improve housing, water and sanitation, disaster preparedness, and education. Now, as a photographer it is still important to me to give back in some way. I contribute my time and expertise to organizations like the United Way, Little Kids Rock, and Help Portrait. I also hope to become a part of an incredible project for adolescent girls in developing countries called Vision, Not Victim that incorporates photography and girls empowerment. See a short but amazingly powerful video of it here:

For me, photography is about slowing down and really seeing things--thinking about our loved ones, what we see in them, and what the photos mean to us. I made my Friendship Folio sessions precisely for this.

I am based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Feel free to give me a call or send me an email. I would love to connect, and answer any questions you might have.
